Rider Spotlight: Ben Brown

We've had the pleasure of watching Ben Brown grow up from a grom to a dedicated boardrider. From his first event, King of Kings Gap he was hooked on longboarding and on the awesome community. He's had a great start, making the podium for Juniors DH at CenMass and Skate the Cape. The skies the limits for our new team rider we're excited to watch!

How did you start skateboarding/longboarding?

My friend from elementary school gave me one of his boards and I just tried it out and fell in love with it. He introduced me to some of my closest friends. One of which has been on Faceplant for a few months now, Rian Singleton.

What are other passions in your life? What motivates you?

Snowboarding and Skiing, pretty much any snow sport or winter sport I am all in for. I also love video production and media, I've always loved making content whether for myself or other people. My motivation stems from creating or providing a quality product for others to enjoy

What do you do for work? How do you balance work and play?

They're the same thing. As of right now I'm a manager at Bethesda Boards, a skate shop in Bethesda Maryland but I'm starting college in Colorado Springs this fall.

Where do you want to see longboarding in the future?

I'd like to see longboarding in a similar light to street skating, where almost everyone has at least tried it and there is a massive international community.

What is your favorite longboard event and why?

Either Skate the Cape or Central Mass, both events are major community events that feel like they only existed to put the community together in one place to shred together... also dumpster party.

Tell us about that session or moment that made you want to really pursue longboarding as more than just a hobby?

King of Kings Gap 2017, it was the first race I had ever been to and competed in and it got me much more involved in the community. I knew after that event that I never wanted to leave the community, so thank you Faceplant for getting me into the community.

What is your biggest achievement? In longboarding and/or life...

In longboarding it would have to be getting third at Central Mass in the juniors division. In life, being able to be a paid personal editor for an internet content creator for a short period of time.

Coffee, tea or energy drink? What wakes you up in the morning?

Mtn Dew Kickstart, That has been my energy drink of choice for four years and will continue to be the thing that gets me hype to skate.

What would be your superpower and why?

Strength, I could push significantly harder than anyone else giving me an advantage when skating

If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? Why?

Colorado Springs, great skating and great snow. Also just a very nice city.

What is your dream job? What's stopping you?

I think it would be pretty cool to run a boardshop in either Colorado or like Vermont, not entirely sure what I'd like to do but that would be pretty cool.
