We don't want to just leave Cape Henlopen how we found it, we want to leave it better than we found it! This year Skate the Cape is collaborating with the Delaware Surfrider Foundation to do a park cleanup and fundraiser.
The Delaware Chapter of the S
urfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the Delaware beaches, waves, and estuaries, for all people, through conservation, activism, research, and education. Our efforts to be involved in issues that impact our coast, such as beach replenishment, water pollution, industrialization usage of our coast, and efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our marine environments. We aim to advocate our position on these issues to the public and our local and state decision-makers.
"I really wanted to give back to Cap
e Henlopen State Park for inviting us back for a 7th year and I wanted to show our audience that every person CAN make a difference." - Rob Wheeler (Skate the Cape host)
Our goal for this event is to cut down single use plastics, every competitor will receive a recycled-plastic reusable water bottle.
"As a surfer I see so much plastic trash on the beach and in the Ocean, it's terrible and there are easy ways for everyone to start cutting back and become a little more eco-conscious." - Rob Wheeler
Come help us clean up Fort Miles and the surrounding areas on Sunday, November 3rd starting at 9am, meet at the Fort Miles Parking Lot. Then, at 10am we start our 2nd day of competitions with the 2.9 mile Enduro Push Race and all of the entry fees will be donated to the Delaware Surfrider Foundation.
